Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern the contractual relationship between Château de Tournou (the “Owner”) and any individual or legal entity wishing to make a booking (the “Client”). Any booking constitutes full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
1. Purpose
These Terms and Conditions define the terms on which the Owner makes Château de Tournou and its outbuildings available to the Client as a holiday rental for private stays or professional events.
2. Description of services
Château de Tournou is a private property comprising:
- Accommodation: 7 bedrooms sleeping 15 people
- Floor area: Approximately 580 m² of indoor space
- Outdoor areas: Terraces, gardens and an infinity pool
- Parking: Private, secure parking on the estate
The château is rented on a fully private, exclusive-use basis. No other tenant will have access to the estate during the stay.
3. Rental periods and pricing
3.1 Minimum stay
- High season (June–August): A minimum of 3 to 7 nights, depending on the period
- Mid-season (April–May, September–October): A minimum of 2 nights
- Low season (November–March): A minimum of 1 to 2 nights
- Event weekends: A minimum of 2 nights (Friday to Sunday or Saturday to Monday)
3.2 Arrival and departure
- Check-in: From 16:00, unless otherwise agreed in advance
- Check-out: Before 11:00, unless otherwise agreed in advance
Late arrival or early departure does not entitle the Client to a refund.
3.3 Pricing
Prices are provided in a personalised quotation based on:
- The season and requested dates
- The length of stay
- The type of event or stay (private or professional)
- The number of additional services requested
Important: Prices quoted apply to the current season. Prices for future seasons may change without notice. A personalised quotation is available on request.
4. Booking and payment
4.1 Booking requests
Bookings must be requested:

- Through the website contact form
The Client must specify the preferred dates, number of people, type of event and any particular requirements.
4.2 Booking confirmation
A booking becomes binding once:
- Both parties have agreed the dates and terms
- The rental agreement has been signed, or these Terms and Conditions have been accepted in writing
- The advance payment has been made (see below)
4.3 Payment schedule

4.4 Accepted payment methods
- Bank transfer (preferred)
- Bank cheque payable to SAS TOURNOU
- Payment card, where available; charges may apply
5. Cancellations and changes
5.1 Cancellation by the Client
All cancellations must be notified in writing by email or registered post. The following charges apply:
COVID-19 and force majeure: If an administrative travel ban or compulsory closure of the property applies, alternative dates will be offered subject to availability, or a partial refund may be considered on submission of supporting documents.
5.2 Changes requested by the Client
Requests to change dates must be made in writing:
- More than 60 days before arrival: Dates may be changed once, free of charge and subject to availability
- Fewer than 60 days: The change is treated as a cancellation under the schedule above
5.3 Cancellation by the Owner
In the event of force majeure, such as a serious incident, substantial damage or administrative requirements, the Owner reserves the right to cancel the booking. Amounts paid will be refunded to the Client immediately, with no additional compensation.
6. Security deposit and property inspections
6.1 Security deposit
A security deposit of €3,000 is required for every stay. It must be provided before arrival by cheque, which will not be cashed, or by a blocked bank transfer.
6.2 Property inspections
- On arrival: An inspection is carried out with the Client or their representative
- On departure: An inspection is carried out at departure or within 24 hours afterwards
6.3 Return of the security deposit
The deposit is returned within 7 days of departure, less any deductions for:
- Damage identified to furniture, equipment, gardens or the pool
- Cleaning required beyond normal use
- Replacement of missing or broken items
- Undeclared additional consumption
If damage exceeds the deposit, the Client agrees to pay the difference on presentation of invoices.
7. House rules and Client obligations
7.1 Maximum capacity
The number of people must not exceed:
- Overnight accommodation: 15 people maximum (bedroom capacity)
- Events: As agreed in advance, up to 90 people for receptions
Additional people without written agreement may result in immediate termination of the contract without a refund.
7.2 Conduct
The Client agrees to:
- Respect neighbours: festivities may continue until 02:00; after this time, noise levels must be significantly reduced, particularly outdoors
- Not smoke inside the château, except in designated areas
- Not bring animals without prior permission
- Treat equipment and furniture with care
- Not move large items of furniture without permission
- Follow safety instructions for the pool, stairs and fireplaces
7.3 Liability
The Client is responsible for damage caused by them or their guests. Public liability insurance is required.
7.4 Personal belongings
The Owner accepts no liability for loss, theft or damage to the Client’s personal belongings.
8. Optional services
The following can be arranged on request, subject to availability:
- A private chef or catering
- Breakfast basket delivery
- Massages and wellness treatments
- Wine tastings
- Event equipment hire
- Concierge and other services
These services are quoted separately and are governed by the relevant providers’ terms.
9. Insurance
The Client must:
- Have personal liability insurance
- Check that their home insurance covers holiday rentals
- Take out cancellation insurance if appropriate to their needs
The Owner accepts no liability for an accident during the stay caused by the Client or their guests.
10. Complaints
Any complaint must be raised:
- Immediately on site, to allow a prompt resolution
- In writing, by email or post, no later than 48 hours after departure
Complaints submitted after this period will not be considered.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and Conditions are governed by French law.
In the event of a dispute, the parties agree to seek an amicable resolution before taking legal action. If no agreement is reached, the dispute will be referred to the competent courts for the area in which Château de Tournou has its registered office.
12. Data protection
Information collected when booking is necessary to manage the rental. It is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
